Hi there, I’m Caroline Cavanagh Solicitor

Few things about me

Working with Judica and the team here at Swift Legal is great. We have recently extended our service reach into Gympie and the Mary Valley whilst continuing to offer our services to the South Burnett community remotely. It is great to be part of such an innovative practice and fantastic team. We offer client’s after hours service and using modern communication technologies, cater well to those working abroad and on FIFO arrangements. Just as we appreciate flexible working options, our client’s also find it more convenient to connect with us remotely, saving time off work, travel and the associated costs. We simply get the work done.

My experiences

Estate planning [wills, testamentary trusts, enduring powers of attorney and discretionary trusts] deceased estates, probate, letters of administration, contested wills, further provision and superannuation claims, elder care and family law are the main areas I can assist with but drop a line even if you have a matter outside of those areas, one of our team may have expertise or we may be able to offer a referral. My legal background is a mix of government, NGO and private practice over the last thirteen years.

I also really enjoy getting in at a grass roots level and contributing to my local community wherever we land. My husband Shaun is a teacher and it was his work that brought us here from Ipswich but we’ve also done stints in far North Queensland, Brisbane and I’m originally from the Gold Coast.

Drop me a line if I can be of assistance, we are here to serve.

I believe in helping others in their time of need, as well as on their road to success. I was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 1998 followed by Queensland shortly thereafter. My career started out in a boutique insolvency firm on the Gold Coast.

However, in 2005 my mother had a stroke, and my parents were faced with having to sell their house. I needed to find a nursing home for my mother and a retirement village for my father. For the first time I understood from a personal perspective how important it is to have your affairs in order. I also realised how daunting the transition from the comfort of your own home to the right seniors accommodation can be. Therefore, shortly after my parents settled into their new lifestyle, I began work at the Seniors Legal and Support Service in Hervey Bay.

My experiences

As part of my work I advised other solicitors, general practitioners and health care providers on the important issues that face the elderly. I have also participated in activities that would change the way we care for our retired community at a government level. I attended QCAT hearings, and provided community education to the public on issues around elder abuse, decision making capacity and enduring powers of attorney.

After more than five years, I wanted to further broaden the scope in which I could provide my help, and so decided to re-enter private practice. However, I do not believe in fancy offices and billing by the minute – just easy to understand legal solutions – and so I decided to start Swift Legal Solutions. So whatever life may throw at you, problems big or small, just give me a call. I’m here to help.
